Turbo needs a hug

Turbo needs a hug

Have you hugged your turtle today.  Well I realize not everyone has a turtle, and if you do get one it’s a lifetime experience and commitment.  They live a long long time.  As I write this I keep hearing  in the back of my mind, Chuck Berry singing his rendition of ” My Ding a Ling.”  Swimming across Turtle Creek hanging onto my ding a ling.  It never stops being hilarious. Maybe some have never heard Chuck Berry sing that song, if not better find it and listen, it’s worth it.

At any rate, we have a turtle that lives at the Strader house whose name if Turbo.  Good name as this is a fast turtle.  He lives in a big aquarium that covers one whole wall of Angie’s dinnet.  Turbo is dinner plate size and very sassy.  He lives with 4 gold fish, there were 5 a few days ago.  He was suppose to eat them when they were small , but declined to do so and now I think they are to big for him to eat,  he prefers sliced turkey breast hand fed.  The other day my finger got to close and he nipped me. I bet I don’t know another person that has been turtle bit. Just drew a small amt of blood. Now I think he actually enjoys the company of these gold fish,  wonder where the 5th one went?  It will make us keep track of the other 4.
Anyway Turbo has finally developed a friendship with me, I know this because when I sit down at the kitchen table in front of his lair he comes over to see me.  Gets really close, follows my finger along the tank and sits there keeping me company while I use the computer. He gets really close to the window of his tank and looks right at me and gives me the big blink. Turbo is a Red Eared Pond Slider, full of personality. He is such a pretty turtle, I could just HUG him. I’m quite sure that would be very surprising to him, however. So I will put that off for now.
As I write this,Turbo is bouncing around in his aquarium, formulating a plan to rearrange the colorful rocks that I just piled on his  sunning rock.  He has his aquarium arranged just the way he likes it and does not care for someone coming in and redecorating. Several times now he has gone over an surveyed the situation and I can just see the wheels turning  in Turbos cute little head, as to just what he is going to do about it. Hope it doesn’t upset him to the extent that he ends up with even one less goldfish friend.

I love this! I can’t wait until you get the archives updated and begin writing more. I really enjoy reading your stories! I love you Mom! :)

What a funny story. Turbo was only the size of a 50 Cent piece when we got him, now he is about 6″ wide. I think he loves having you guys over for company during the day.
